Anand, Oct 7 (UNI) Gujarat Education Minister Anandiben Patel today said by organising Science and Mathematics fairs will help shed phobia among the students about the two being complicated subjects.

Speaking after inaugurating a three-day Science&Mathematics fair at Sardar Patel Vinay Mandir at Vasad, about 15 km from here, Ms Patel said such fairs will help students to get over their fears about science and mathematics being complicated subjects. Science and maths, unlike other subjects, cannot be learnt by rote, she said.

She urged the students of secondary and higher secondary schools to visit Science City at Gandhinagar often.

She pointed out that the Western world claims that it had invented aeroplanes and television, while in Ramayana there is a clear mention of 'pushpak viman' and in Mahabharata it was Sanjay who saw the events on the battlefield and described it to Dhrathrashtra similar to our live telecast of today.

As for micro surgery, it was Lord Shiva who planted the head of an elephant to create Lord Ganpati, she said.

The three-day event is being organised by GCERT, Gandhinagar and will conclude on October 9.

Among those present included Sarsa MLA Jaswantsinh Solanki and former MP Deepakbhai Patel.
