Re-election in one civic ward in Mumbai

One
civic
ward
in
Andheri
in
the
western
suburbs,
of
the
city
will
face
re-election
tomorrow
after
the
elected
councillor,
Kamlakar
Jamsandekar,
of
the
Shiv
Sena
was
murdered
some
months
back.
Mr Jamsandekar was shot at point blank range a few weeks after he was elected as the corporator of ward number 152.
Six candidates are contesting the elections in the ward which has an electorate of 37,165 voters.
Komal Jamsandekar, wife of the slain elected corporator, will contest on a Shiv Sena ticket.
The five other candidates include Khan Abdul Rahim Kamruddin of the Samajwadi Party, Manihar Abdul Mohammed Abdul Aziz from the Congress, Prakash Devji of the NCP, Dinesh Shetty from the Shivraj Party and independent candidate Lalmani Devi Janardan.
Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has not fielded its candidate for the re-elections in the civic ward.
