Mathura, Oct 7 (UNI) Reproaching the ruling Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today accused the former of annulling the recruitment of thousands of constables in the name of gross irregularities with a view to extracting financial gains from them.

''I find the constables into the hot water...the previous Mulayam Singh Yadav regime had already extracted huge financial gains from them. Now, Mayawati desires to do the same by giving new recruitments after dismissing them,'' BJP state unit president Rama Pati Ram Tripathi charged before mediapersons here today.

Alleging the police recruitment scam probe lacked transparency, Mr Tripathi said the investigation was not done impartially. Only an asynchronous probe into each and every case of the police recruitment scam could provide justice to the sacked cops.

He further demanded that an FIR be lodged against UP ADGP Shailja Kant Mishra for claiming without any evidence that the women police radio operators had been sexually exploited. ''Mr Mishra had no right to play with the lives of these girls...they have landed nowhere now,'' he said.

Over 20,000 policemen were recruited during the previous SP regime and several irregularities were detected during the probe conducted by the present BSP government.

In a major decision, the UP government on September 11 had suspended 12 senior Indian Police Services (IPS) officers in the state for their involvement in the scam and annulled 14 recruitment boards, in which a total of 6,504 civil police and PAC constables were recruited.
