Haryana govt extends scheme to waive water surcharge

Chandigarh, Oct 7 (UNI) The Haryana Government has decided to extend the period of ''One Time Settlement Scheme'' launched to waive surcharge on the arrears of water rate and sewerage charges in all the municipal areas of the state till November 30.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the PWD, Water Supply and Sanitation Department said that the scheme was launched with a view to recover the pending arrears of water and sewerage charges.

He said that under the ''One Time Settlement Scheme'' scheme, the entire surcharge, interest or penalty was being waived off in case consumers deposit the actual amount of water and sewerage charges in lumpsum or in two monthly installments.

By extending the scheme, the state government was providing another opportunity to the left out people of urban areas to avail the benefit of the scheme, he added.
