Gujarat to hold 2008 R-Day in Vyara: Modi
Vyara, Gujarat, Oct 7 (UNI) Next year's Republic Day celebrations will be held in Vyara, the headquarters of newly created district of Tapi in South Gujarat, said Chief Minister Narendra Modi today.
''While we have successfully performed our duty towards the tribals by giving them land allotments, Congress continues with its slanderous campaign against us that our government comes in the way of land allotments to the tribals,'' said Mr Modi while addressing a gathering here. Vyara has been carved out as a new distrct from Surat recently.
''In the past, formation of new districts was the outcome of public agitation. However, we have created the district of Tapi for better administration and to serve people,'' he said.
''The past Congress governments' track record is replete with the tribal exploitation. Contrary to this, our government has implemented the package of Rs 15,000 crore exclusively for the benefit of tribals,'' he added.
