Describing the experience Rahat, who is part of the team that was selected in the "state level aerospace Olympiad" organized in Chandigarh recently, said it was extraordinary as the Indian astronaut took us on a video tour of the expedition of the Space station where they she had set a new record of the longest single spaceflight by a woman comprising of 195 days.
In the question hour session at Gurgaon organized by Atlantis Max --that holds Aerospace Settlement Design global competitions, Sunita told students that she was a helicopter pilot who went on to become an astronaut.
Interestingly, Sunita, whose father belongs to Gujarat, said she had carried a Bhagvad Gita, some samosas and small figurine of Lord Ganesha on her spaceflight, Rahat said.
The astronaut told them that technical experiments on various effects on humans, plants and animals in space were being studied and further added that a US and Russian laboratory was being set up in space.
She said that NASA was also looking at possibilities of more space exploration in the coming days.
"She playfully described her experience about having morsels of food floating in space and competing to catch them by their mouth and brushing her hair that tended to stand-up due to zero gravity, The students were thrilled to see the space recording where Sunita pointed out the satellite video of India and even of the Taj Mahal, Rahat said.
