Darjeeling, Oct 7 (UNI) A new party -Gorkha Janamukti Morcha- was today launched to spearhead a fresh agitation for separate Gorkhaland state in Darjeeling hills.
Launching the party at a massive rally here, former GNLF leader Bimal Gurung called his former mentor Subash Ghisingh a betrayer, and urged the people to renew the struggle until the goal of statehood was achieved.
President of Singhamari Tukver valley constituency, Bimal Gurung also released a party flag having three colours, Green, White and Yellow with sun and mountain crossed Khukri as emblamed.
Mr Gurung said in the past 20 years Ghishing in collusion with the Centre and state gvoernment had betrayed the Gorkhas. ''The headquarters of DGHC, the Lalakothi, is a slaughterhouse as whoever protested against Ghishing's diktat had to pay a heavy price'', Gurung said. He said Ghising's only achievement was nepotism, favoritism and incite unrest among the ethnic people.
All Gorkha Student Union (AGSU) also joined the rally.
Today's rally was also addressed by Darjeeling Municipal Councillor from Kalingpong Vijay Sundas. The rally was presided over by the president All India Nepali Scheduled caste Association Kaman Singh Ramudamu.
