Smuggler with charas arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 4 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police today arrested a smuggler in south Kashmir, a police spokesman said.

He said acting on a specific information police arrested one Mohammad Maqbol Bhat alias Pinga at Check Rjpora alongwith about half a kg of charas.

Bhat, a smuggler, was trying to smuggle it out from the village when he was arrested, he said.

Police has destroyed bhang and poppy straw crops on hundreds of kanals of land in south Kashmir district of Anantnag and Pulwama during the past six months.

Police also arrested six persons alongwith brown sugar and charas from the Nehru park area on the banks of Dal Lake yesterday.
