International drug cartel busted in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 4 (UNI) With the arrest of three foreigners, including two Nigerians, and recovery of 3.670 kg of heroin, police today claimed to have busted an international drug cartel in the national capital.

Rasheed Abisoye, Sunday Babatunde, both Nigerians, and Mehmood Shah, an Afghan National, were arrested from South Delhi's Govindpuri area while the consignment was changing hands.

Police said the recovered drugs are worth Rs 3.67 crore.

During interrogation, the accused, police said, revealed that the entire network was being operated from Afghanistan by one Toufiq and the main conduit was Memhood.

Mehmood, arrested earlier in another case of drug trafficking, was supplying the drugs to traffickers in Delhi.

Further investigations are in progress.
