Mumbai, Oct 4 (UNI) Congress corporators will adopt a non-cooperation policy and will oppose all the Urgent Business (UB) matters in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, opposition leader in the BMC Raj Hans Singh has said.

The Congress corporators have decided on the non-cooperation policy since the ruling Shiv Sena-BJP corporators have refused to clear item number 93 in the UB list that dealt with the construction of a Muslim cemetry in the Aarey Milk Colony. The opposition had demanded a vote in this regard but the mayor over-ruled it leading to a verbal duel in the House.

Group leader of the Nationalist Congress Party Niyaz Ahmed Vanu said the ruling Shiv Sena-BJP will require at least two-third majority to clear any proposal under the UB matter and ''we will not allow anything to be cleared till the construction of the cemetry at Aarey Milk colony is okayed''.

Congress corporator and group leader Amin Patel said the opposition had worked for the last nine months to get the proposal cleared by the Improvement Committee and now it was getting delayed in the House. He said the locality has a population of over one-and-half lakh and they have to travel long distances to bury the dead.
