Bodies of Majors flown to their home town
Srinagar, Oct 4 (UNI) Mortal remains of the two Army Majors, who laid down their lives in a 36-hour-long fierce encounter with militants in north Kashmir were flown to Delhi today.
Nine militants of Al-Badr, who had reportedly infiltrated into this side from Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (POK) were also killed in the encounter.
A large number of senior Army officers paid floral tributes at the headquarters of 15 Corps at Badamibagh Cantonment here this morning before the coffins of Major K P Vinay, a resident of Hyderabad and Major D R Raman, a resident of Chennai covered in the national flag were flown to Delhi.
The bodies will be later taken to their respective states.
A senior Army officer said the slain militants were well trained.
According to reports, 30-year-old Major Vinay, who received bullet injuries in the head and chest before attaining martyrdom, was to get married on October 29.
