PMK to organise march, demands reservation for minorities

Puducherry, Oct 3 (UNI) The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) will organise a march tomorrow from Singaravelar statue to the Legislative Assembly here to press for the reservation for minorities in the Union Territory.

Addressing a press conference here today, PMK Parliamentary Party leader M Ramadass said the minorities, constituting 13.2 per cent of the population here as per the 2001 census, were socially and economically weak and they should be given reservation.

Stating that Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu had implemented reservation, Prof Ramadass demanded that the territorial administration should convene a session of the Legislative Assembly to introduce a bill in this regard and get concurrence of the Union Home Ministry for its implementation.

PMK founder-leader S Ramdoss and Party President G K Mani would lead the march, he added.
