Naidu hopeful of power transfer in K'taka

Bangalore, Oct 3 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu today expressed confidence that the transfer of power in Karnataka would go off smoothly.

Speaking to newspersons after meeting senior JD(S) leader and Home Minister M P Prakash here, Mr Naidu asserted that there were ''no serious issues'' between coalition partners BJP and JD(S) on power transfer issue.

Mr Naidu expressed hope that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy would hand over power to BJP's B S Yediyurappa as per the pact reached between two parties in February 2006.

''There is no dispute over the candidature of Mr Yediyurappa for Chief Ministership from the BJP side,'' he added.

Mr Prakash had discussed with the BJP leader, the political situation after the en masse resignation of BJP ministers yesterday, seeking Mr Kumaraswamy to step down to effect power transfer.
