Funds for repairing NH remain unutilised, ministry informs HC

Ranchi, Oct 3 (UNI) Jharkhand High Court was today informed that funds allocated to the state government for repairing of bad stretches and potholes on the NH throughout the state remained unutilised.

In an affidavit, the liaison officer, of the Union Road Transport Ministry informed the HC that authorities had already allocated the funds for repairing the NHs.

Earlier, the court had directed to file an affidavit in this regard.

Mukhtar Khan, appearing on behalf of the Union government, informed the court that in compliance to the High Court's order a meeting between the Secretary, Department of Road Construction and Highways, and the Jharkhand Chief Secretary was held on September 6 in Delhi.

A task force consisting of senior officials was also constituted.

It was suggested that the repairing work of the bad stretches and potholes on NH should be done from the fund of Rs.7.20 crore which had been earmarked under ordinary repair and it does not require separate sanction.

The court fixed October 4 as next date of hearing.
