Four CRPF killed, 9 injured in PREPAK ambush

Imphal, Oct 3 (UNI) Four CRPF personnel were killed and nine injured when People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) activists ambushed their convoy on National Highway 39 at Kotlen in Tamenglong district today.

Police said while a CRPF jawan died on the spot, three later succumbed to their injuries at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, (RIMS), Imphal. Six others were wounded, of whom three were in a critical state and fighting for their lives.

The convoy, consisting of three vehicles of the CRPF, was travelling on the highway when the armed PREPAK militants attacked them. Since the area was a blind corner, the three vehicles had slowed down.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of the outfit rang up media offices at Imphal and claimed responsibility for the ambush.

A large number of security personnel were rushed to the area and combing operations were being carried out. However, no one has been arrested yet.
