Allahabad re-enters civil aviation map with direct flight to Delhi

Lucknow, Oct 3 (UNI) After Kanpur, now direct commercial flights would be introduced between Delhi and Allahabad from October 15, 2007.

Civil Aviation minister Praful Patel informed Samajwadi Party Lok Sabha member from Allahabad Reoti Raman Singh that the Delhi-Allahabad-Delhi six days flights would be operated from October 15.

Talking to UNI from New Delhi, Mr Singh said that Alliance Air would operate an ATR aircraft on the route for three days while for rest three days a 737 aircraft will be used for the service.

He said according to the information received from the aviation department, the flight will leave from Delhi at 1500 hours and reach Allahabad at 1630 hours. It will leave Allahabad at 1730 hours to reach Delhi at 1900 hours. One way fare of the flight would be around Rs 3600.

Allahabad would be the second city in the state after Kanpur to get a direct flight from Delhi in the recent times. Last month a similar flight was introduced between Delhi and Kanpur.

Earlier, Allahabad had a commercial air link with other cities but the flights were later cancelled.
