Sufficient stock of essentials stored at Gurez for winter months
Srinagar, Oct 2 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government has stored several quintals of essential commodities, at border town of Gurez, which remains cut off from the rest of the state during winter months due to heavy snowfall.
An official spokesman said the Block Medical Officer of Gurez has been directed to prepare demands for additional medicines to be used during winters.
He said 22530 quintals of rice, 9654 quintals of atta and 2070 quintals of sugar have so far been dispatched to the town.
He said more 1200 quintals of rice and 7643 quintals of atta are being sent by mid-October.
Similarly, 228 kilo liters of fuel for power generator sets have been stored against a target of 340 kilo liters and balance fuel is being dispatched during this month, he said.
In health sector, the meeting was told that sufficient quantity of medicines have been stored in Gurez.
He said concerned departments have been directed to dispatch the remaining stock of food-grains and fuel to Gurez at the earliest so that the target is completed before winters.
