Rich tributes paid to Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Oct 2 (UNI) Various city organisations today paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and the late prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, on the occasion of their birth anniversaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Dr Bhagwat Karad, declared that the statue of the Mahatma in Shahganj will be replaced with a new and bigger one. The statue in Shahganj area was installed about 40 years ago. Dr Karad also offered floral tributes to the portrait of Lal Bahadur Shastri.
At another programme held in the Deogiri College premises, the former registrar of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Dr Paras Bora urged the youth to follow in the foot steps of Mahatma Gandhi. ''There is no option to the Mahatma's ideology of non-violence,'' he said.
