Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial College forgets former PM

Jamshedpur, Oct 2 (UNI) Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri's birthday celebration has been a low-key affair even as the college named after him failed to remember him even on this auspicious day.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial College, which was founded in 1977 at Karandih here for the tribal students and a dream project of a professor of a local college, is in a poor state and facing the brunt of the government's apathy.

The college, which was inaugurated by the widow of the former prime minister Lalita Shastri, has been facing financial problem and running with shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff.

But the saddest part was that the college management had forgotten India's second Prime Minister and the ''Jai Jawan Jai Kishan'' visionary on his birthday as no celebration was observed today.
