J'khand observes Gandhi, Shastri's birth anniversary

Ranchi, Oct 2 (UNI) Recalling the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi on his 138th birth anniversary, Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibte Razi today urged the people to follow the path of 'satya and ahimsa'.

Mr Razi said Gandhiji's philosophy could alone save the world from terrorism.

He said the world's philosophy should be based on Mahatma's principles of truth and non-violence.

Mr Razi said real tribute to the Father of Nation would be paid when the weaker section was taken care of.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Madhu Koda said United Nations had already announced to mark the day as 'International Ahimsa Diwas'.

Mr Koda attended a government function to mark the occasion at Morhabadi Ground here where he paid floral tributes to the Father of the Nation.

The wildlife preservation week beginning from today was also held in the state.

Different political parties also observed Gandhiji's birth anniversary.

The state also observed the 103rd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shashtri.
