Swamy demands dismissal of TN Govt, invoking Art 356

Chennai, Oct 1 (UNI) Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy today alleged that the Tamil Nadu Government abetted the ''bandh'' and demanded dismissal of the DMK Government, invoking Article 356 of the Constitution.

In a statement here, Dr Swamy said despite the Supreme Court declaring the bandh called by the DMK and its allies, unconstitutional, the State Government ''aided and abetted the implementation of the bandh''.

''Hence it is now clear that the minority DMK Government cannot carry on the responsibilities of administration in accordance with the Constitution and therefore, Article 356 of the Constitution must be invoked'', he demanded.

The Supreme Court should issue directions to the Union Government to dismiss the DMK Government, he said, adding he had already written to the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil in this regard.
