Sonia, UPA real 'foes' of Hindus: VHP

Allahabad, Sep 30 (UNI) The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today alleged that AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime at the Centre were the real ''foes'' of the Hindus and not Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Karunanidhi.

''A conspiracy to the under sea bridge was started by the Union government...not Karunanidhi,'' VHP executive president Ashok Singhal charged while addressing a gathering here this evening.

The saffron brigade leader warned of a nationwide protest, if the UPA continued to be adamant on the Ram Sethu issue, which is attached to the religious sentiments of crores of Hindus across India and abroad.

''The UPA never imagined such hue and cry before presenting the controversial affidavit in the Supreme Court. The saints and sages have already started a large scale movement for the cause...we will never let the centre destroy Ram Sethu,'' Mr Singhal added.

He alleged ''some western countries are trying to destroy the Indian culture. The caste system was also the result of their forefathers efforts to murder our culture as they never wanted unity among Indians.'' UNI
