Pregnant woman throttled along with minor child

Ghazipur, Oct 1 (UNI) A pregnant woman, along with her 10-year-old daughter, was strangled by masked men in Nohra area of this district in Uttar Pradesh.

Shankar Chauhan's better half Basmati (33) and his daughter Puja were garrotted yesterday night at village Chak Salem while they were sleeping. However, his toddler was left unhurt.

According to police, Shankar is employed in Saudi Arabia and Basmati used to stay alone at home with the children.

The reason behind the murder, however, remained a puzzle.

A manhunt had been launched to nab the culprits.
