Mercedes Benz-Indian Trail flagged off from Mumbai

Mumbai, Oct 1 (UNI) German auto giant DiamlerChrysler today officially kicked off a pan-India rally, ''Mercedes Benz: The Indian Trail'', here today.

The rally was flagged off by noted author Shobha De and CEO of DaimlerChrysler Dr Wilfried Aulbur.

The ''India Trail'' will feature complete portfolio of diesel cars from the Mercedes Benz stable in India. The seven cars in the rally will cover a distance of 40,000 kilometers. The Mumbai flag- off marks the beginning of the West-North part of the drive which will finally culminate in Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Aulbur said, ''We want to show that modern diesel cars, after 70 years of innovation, are fun, reliable, powerful and clean.'' ''The rally will showcase a glimpse of the incredible country, and if Mercedes come on top of Indian road, that is more than enough,'' Ms De said.
