Meena MLAs threaten to resign if Gujjars included in ST list

Jaipur, Oct 1 (UNI) On the eve of the Rajasthan Gujjar Reservation Action Committee's proposed Jail Bharo agitation for ST status, Rajasthan's Food and Civil Supply Minister Kirodi Lal Meena assrted that all 31 sitting Rajasthan MLAs from the community will ''sacrifice'' their assembly memberships if an attempt was made to amend the ST list.

Addressing the 14th convention of Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad here today, Mr Meena said that the MLAs were against any inclusion or amendment in the existing ST list and would put in their papers if any such attempt was made.

He said that these MLAs had already conveyed to Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje their view-point over this issue, during the Gujjar agitation in Rajasthan in May and June this year.

Besides Dr Meena, Tribal Development Minister Kanak Mal Katara and several sitting Rajasthan MLAs, including Raghuveer Meena, Navneet Ninama, Ram Narain Meena, Shijvi Meena, Suresh Meena, Murari Meena, Mangi Lal Garasia and Kanhiya Lal Meena, also participated in the convention.

Union Ministers PR Kyndiah, Namo Narain Meena, Kanti Lal Bhuria and Manik Rao Gavit also spoke at the convention.

The two day convention coincides with the Gujjar Action Committee's proposed Jail Bharo agitaion in the state from tomorrow for the demand of inclusion of Gujjar community into ST list.
