Husband attempts suicide after wife jumps to death

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) A man attempted suicide after his pregnant wife jumped to death in Prasad Nagar area of Central Delhi, following a arguement.

While Meera alias Dolly (28) died soon after she jumped from the second floor of her Rajeshwari Colony house late last night, her husband Bharat Bhushan is battling for his life at the Gangaram Hospital, said the police.

Soon after his wife jumped to death, Bhushan slashed his wrist and neck with a broken bottle.

''A case for dowry harassment has been registered against Bharat Bhushan and his parents after Meera's mother alleged that she would be regularly harrassed for dowry by them.'' No arrests have been made, it added.

A contractual painter at the US Embassy here, Bhushan would often come home drunk and fight with his wife, said sources adding that Meera was eight months pregnant.

The couple married two years back and have a two-year-old son.
