HC grants bail to Chahal and others, Gambhir denied bail

Chandigarh, Oct 1 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court today dismissed the plea for grant of anticipatory bail to G K Gambhir, a director of New Delhi-based construction company 'Today Homes' while granting anticipatory bail to Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, ex-media advisor to former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, and some other Today Homes officials.

Mr Gambhir, who had been granted contract for the construction of the controversial multi-crore project known as ''City Centre of Ludhiana Improvemenbt Trust, was on an interim anticipatory bail.

He has been left with the only option to approach the Supreme Court or surrender.

Justice Surya Kant, who today pronounced the verdict which was reserved on September 14, granted anticipatory bail to Chahal and some Today Homes senior officials including Vinay Subhiki, Sunil Sharma and Syed Ashfaque Hussain Naqvi.

He also directed them to appear before the invstigating officer as and when required.

They have also been asked to seek regular bail after the chargesheet in the case was presented in the concerned court.

All of them are now on pre-arrest interim anticipatory bail.
