Gopal Sharma takes over as new DG, Sashastra Seema Bal

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) Mr Gopal Sharma today took over as the new Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal, from Mr Tilak Kak, who superannuated from service yesterday.

Mr Sharma, a 1972 batch IPS officer of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre, is a former DGP of the state. He headed the state police during a very critical period (May 20, 2003 to July 17, 2007) and last posted as Security Advisor to the Chief Minister.

He has held several other important assignments in J K, including ADGP, J and K Armed Police, IGP, Kashmir, IGP, CID, J and K, IGP (HQ), J and K.

He is a recipient of the Indian Police medal for meritorious service and President's Police Medal, apart from being honoured with the Sher-i-Kashmir medal.
