Tandoor to get water from Pranahita-Chevella project

Hyderabad, Sep 30 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said water would be provided to Tandoor area--covering Vikarabad and Parigi-- for irrigation purpose from the proposed Pranahita-Chevella project across River Godavari.

Laying the foundation stone for 'Manjeera' drinking water scheme at Vikarabad in Ranga Reddy district, Dr Reddy said the canals under the project would cover almost all the irrigation lands in the district.

Stating that the government had called for tenders for the Rs 15,000 crore project, he said the Congress-led governments at the State and the Centre were committed to the welfare of poor farmers.
