Court sentences youth for raping minor

Dharamshala, Sep 29 (UNI) A local court in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh today sentenced a person to ten years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 for raping a ten-year-old school girl, third such conviction in three days.

Arun Kumar alias Bablu kidnapped a ten-year old girl at 0730 hrs on June 8, last year, while she was on her way to school at Mangarh village, and forcibly took her to a nearby jungle where he raped her.

The victim narrated the whole incident to her labourer parents who lodged an FIR against the accused.

A case under Sections 376, 342 and 506 of the IPC was registered against the accused who was arrested the next day.

The court sentenced the accused to 10 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000, adding that he would have to undergo another two years in jail on failing to deposit the fine.

Arun was also convicted under Sections 506 and 342 of the IPC and sentenced two years of imprisonment and was imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 and 2,000 respectively.

All the sentences would run concurrently, the court added.
