Contagious diseases, malaria claim 150 lives in Mainpuri
Mainpuri, Sep 30 (UNI) Fatal contagious diseases and malaria continued to claim the lives of people here with the toll mounting to to 150, following the death of eight more people in the past 48 hours.
Official sources said, so far, as many as 150 people, mostly children, had succumbed to malaria, fever, vomiting and diarrhoea in the district.
DM Arun Kumar Verma had declared the district as 'malaria hit' and entrusted the responsibilty of undertaking a massive vaccination drive against the vector-borne diseases to SDM, Tehsildars and departmental officials.
A special campaign had already been kicked off till October 15, besides necessary medicines were being provided to the victims.
