Ageing prisoners to be relased on Gandhi Jayanti day

Patna, Sep 30 (UNI) Drawing inspiration of Gandhigiri from ''Lage Raho Munna Bhai'', the Bihar government has decided to release many aged prisoners on occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.

The jail administration is expected to release many female prisoners above 65 and male prisoners above 70 years, official sources said today.

The government has already given nod to such proposal for releasing the aged prisoners, Cabinet secretary Girish Shankar said.

Official sources said the jail authorities was preparing a list of prisoners to be freed on October two.

They said besides the age factor, the time period spent by the prisoners would also be considered.

As per, the ageing prisoners, who have completed half of their jail term could be freed, they added.
