Resurgence in India's steel sector

New Delhi, Sep 29, 2007: Enthused with the resurgence in the country's steel sector the government anticipates that India is all set to emerge as the second-largest steel producer in the world by 2016 with India's steel production capacity, expected to rise three-fold to 120 million tonnes.

The government had projected 65 million tonnes of production capacity by 2010-11 in the National Steel Policy, but now these estimates have been revised to 80 Million Tonnes.
