TN Govt to ensure free movement of transport on bandh day
Chennai, Sep 29 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today announced that it would ensure free and smooth movement of transport and protect the rights of the citizens during the October one 'hartal' called by various political parties in the state.
An official release here said law and order would be maintained and any act of violence would be firmly dealt with.
Appealing to all concerned to remain calm and maintain peace, it said Police and District Administration have been instructed to maintain law and order on the day to ensure the 'Hartal' passes off peacefully.
The officials have been instructed to maintain essential services like telephone and telecommunication, water supply, milk distribution, power supply, fire services, newspapers, hospitals and to ensure their functioning by proper protection.
They were also directed to provide adequate protection to vital installations like power stations, grids, sub-stations, important government buildings, telecommunication facilities and bridges, oil installations and Railway bridges, High Court and other courts.
The government also directed the officials to open line patrol with immediate effect, arrange for regular supply of milk and other essentials and take action against anti-social elements and persons indulging in acts of violence and vandalism.
The government would also maintain visible police presence throughout the city and outside railway stations, bus depots, main roads, main junctions, hospitals, courts, schools and colleges.
Polic would provide necessary protection at market and business areas and all Police Control Rooms to follow up incidents to take proper stern and timely action.
