Soz releases devotional poetry of Moulana Taib

Srinagar, Sep 29 (UNI) Union Minister of Water Resources, Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz finally assembled and released devotional poetry of Late Moulana Abdul Gaffar Taib at a function here today.

''It is an important segment of cultural heritage of any cultural entity,'' said Prof Soz adding, devotional poetry strengthens faith and provides solace.

He said he has been trying to assemble the verses of Taib for the last 25 years and today, when the book was ready, he felt there were , many more verses of the poet which needed to be collected and included in the next edition.

He urged Cultural Academy to carry forward this work and lauded it for bringing out the literature of such poets who are little known.

He said even though ''Nath and Munaqib'' of Late Taib were read in all Kashmiri households during various religious ceremonies, yet few people knew that it was the poetry of son of the soil.

Prof Soz spoke at length about the stature of the Late Poet Taib, who had full command over three languages of Arabic, Persian and Kashmiri at the same time.

He said Taib's verses were not only comparable to the great Nathgo Poet of Kashmiri Abdul Ahad Nadim but at times, he was just near to famous Persian Poet Moulana Jami.
