Rathwa inaugurates 2nd phase of WZ communication hub

Mumbai, Sep 29 (UNI) The second phase of the zonal communication hub for western region was today inaugurated by Minister of State for Railways Naranbhai Rathwa at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus here.

The communication hub will make available basic information pertaining to the trains to the general public. The west zone communication hub will be at Mumbai and the call centre will be located in Ahmedabad. The hub will cover Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Diu and Daman.

All basic inquiries will be answered on telephone no 139. This service will also be made available to all customers in the country who may subscribe to any telecom service provider irrespective of the type of telecom service, Mr Rathwa said while speaking on the occasion.

The subscriber will be able to access these services by making local call. The service will be available in four languages -- Hindi, English, Marathi and Gujarati for west zone.

The work of implementation of Integrated Train Enquiry System (ITES) is based on Public-Private-Partnership model and has been developed by Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation and Centre for Railway Information System.
