New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) Pankaj Udhas, the ghazal luminary who touched hearts with such memorable numbers as ''Chithi aayee hai'' has made a comeback on the music scene with a compilation of love songs, put to tune by none other than sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.

It is for the first time that the two legendary musicians have come together.

The album titled 'Yaara', a Music Today's presentation, was launched last night at a function here.

Speaking on the occasion, Pankaj Udhas, mentioning the compositions by Amjad Ali Khan for the album, said, ''It is a honour to me to sing for such a composition.'' On being asked what led him to take such a long time to comeback, he said, ''I was planning to do something very different.

Fortunately everything happened in the last six months.'' 'Yaara,' meaning beloved, is a compilation of love songs, penned by Sufi scholar Madan Mohan Gopal Singh. Hitesh Sonik, of Omkara fame, has arranged the music for the album.

The songs have been designed keeping in mind the transitions of music, the change which is reflected in contemporary numbers.

The video of the title track of 'Yaara' was also premiered on the occasion.

Amjad Ali Khan, this time donning the role of a music composer, said he too enjoyed working with the illustrious singer, ''When I met Madanji and we discussed the only singer who came in mind was Pankaj Udhas.'' Prior to the launch, Pankaj Udhas enthralled the audience with such numbers like 'Chithee ayee hai' from the movie 'Naam' and 'Jiye to jiye kaise' of 'Saajan' and compelled them to ask for more.
