Bangalore, Sep 28: Karnataka today banned use of mobilephones in Schools and colleges from October five, State Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti today announced.
Mr Horatti told reporters here that a government order to this effect would be issued shortly. The ban would also cover the teaching faculty.
This measure comes in the wake of several studies which pointed adverse effects of radition from use of mobile phones on the brains and IQ level of children in the age of group of 16.
He said that that there was a representation from manufacturers of mobile phones saying that there was no harm to the children using the cell phones.
Mr Horatti said that the goverment was going ahead in banning the use of mobiles despite some opposition from teaching faculties.
