New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) About 200 experts from the steel sector will participate in an international seminar here on October 1.

The seminar will focus the benefits of iron ore and pelletisation, which will raise awareness for maximising the use of indigenously available iron ores and fines by increasing pelletisatiion capacity.

It will bring plant suppliers, technology suppliers and prospective entrepreneurs on a single platform, an official statement said.

The participants from abroad will include Metallurgical Construction Corporation(MCC), Sino Steel Industry and Trading Corporation (SSIT), Bao steel from China, All Mineral Gmbh, Germany and CVRD, Brazil.

Besides, experts from SAIL, TISCO, Essar Steel, JSW, JSPl, Bhushan Steel and Ispat Industries and researchers from NML, Jamshedpur and Institute of Materials and Minerals Technology (Formerly Regional Research Laboratory), Bhubaneswar will be among those attending the seminar.

Availability of high-grade iron ore at internationally competitive price has been the strength of Indian steel industry.

However, with continuous increase in domestic consumption of high grade iron ore and export of iron ore fines, there is an increase in the domestic price of iron ore.

There are constraints in utilising iron ore fines by the domestic iron and steel making units mainly because of limited sintering and pelletising capacity. The seminar is expected to give a boost to increase awareness for pelletisation in the small and medium capacity ranges, the statement added.

Steel Secretary R S Pandey will inaugurate the seminar, which will be attended by senior officials of the Ministries of Steel and Mines.
