Foreign liquor worth Rs 50 lakh seized

Udaipur, Sep 29(UNI) Udaipur and Nathdwara police have seized foreign liquor worth Rs 50 lakh today while smuggling into the state.

Udaipur SP Govind Gupta said the district police while acting on a tip-off, intercepted a truck coming form the Udaipur at Kherwara checkpost.The police on inspection found that the truck was loaded with different brands of foreign liquor worth Rs 25 lakh. Police claimed that the liquor was being smuggled to Gujarat, which is a dry state.

In another incident Rajsamand police sezied another truck ladden with liquor, which was also on way to Gujarat from Punjab. The police seized 729 cartons of liquor of various brands worth Rs 25 lakh conceled in the truck.

The police seized the truck and took into custody the truck drivers, in both the incidents.
