Congress plans peace march on Ahimsa Day
New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) The Congress will organise a 'padyatra' on October 2 to mark Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary which is being observed as 'Ahimsa Diwas'.
The footmarch will start from the AICC office to Rajghat the samadhi of Gandhiji.
It will be flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, said Mr J P Agarwal, the Delhi unit party chief.
He said a six-member committee has been constituted to ensure fool-proof arrangement of buses for commuting Congress workers for the peace march. The members include Krishna Tirath, MP, Delhi Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf, Narendra Nath, Ramakanth Goswami and J K Sharma, opposition leader in the MCD.
