Hyderabad, Sep 29 (UNI) The BJP in Andhra Pradesh today announced a statewide stir on October two, the Gandhi Jayanti day, to press for changing the alignment of the Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project (SSCP) and protect the 'Ramasethu.' Addressing a press conference here, BJP State President and former Union minister Bandaru Datattreya said the activists would sing ''Raghupathi Raghava Rajaram'' and read ''Sundara Kandam''(a chapter in Ramayana).

Coming down heavily on the UPA Government for ''hurting'' the sentiments of the Hindus, Mr Datattreya said according to Hindu belief, Lord Ram and his 'vaanar sena' had built a bridge from Rameswaram to Sri Lanka.

Historical evidences were there in support of the belief, he claimed and added that his party would not allow damaging the monument having historical and religious importance.
