BJP minister Sriramulu resigns

Bangalore, Sep 29 (UNI) The controversial Karnataka Tourism Minister B Sriramulu today resigned from his post in protest against atrocities meted to him and his family by Suryanarayana Reddy, Political Secretary to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Mr Sriramulu, who returned here by helicopter following directions from the party leadership to discuss the developments that led to present political crisis in the state said Mr Kumaraswamy should transfer power unconditionally to his party and should not mix it with his remarks in a campaign meeting where he had alleged involvement of the Cheif Minister in an attempt to kill him.

Mr Sriramulu on his arrival told reporters here today that he would submit his resignation to Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

Replying to queries Sriramulu directly accused Mr Reddy and said he and his family members were subjected to humiliation on many an occasions. He would not join the cabinet of a new government to be formed by his party leader B S Yediyurappa, he added.

In a swift development, Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H D Deve Gowda returned from New Delhi without discussing with BJP leaders on transfer of power issue following a complaint filed by Sriramulu two days ago. Mr Deve Gowda had clearly stated that he would not discuss the transfer of power issue until the issue involving his son in connection with the murder case was resolved.
