Workers should take adequate safety measures: BHEL GM

Tiruchirapalli, Sep 28 (UNI) Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) General Manager V Ananthakrishnan today called up on the workers in the fabrication industry to take adequate safety measures to avoid industrial accidents.

Inaugurating a training programme on safety in fabrication industries, jointly organised by the Tiruchirapalli Action Centre (TAC) of the National Safety Council, Factory Inspectorate and BHEL, he said adopting safety would help to improve the productivity.

Joint Chief of Inspectorate of Factories and Chairman of TAC P P Janarthanan said the workers should wear personal protective equipments and follow standard operating procedures while they were working.

Tiruchirapalli was known for fabrication and welding industries, he said.

About 70 employees from various industries in Tiruchirapalli, Pudukkottai and Thanjavur districts attended the programme, he added.
