VHPL to diversify in pharmaceuticals

New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) 'Test Kit for HIV' will soon be marketed here by an Indian company to help contain the spread of HIV.

The Venkateswara Hatcheries Private Limited (VHPL) Group is all set to launch a three-minute 'Test Kit for HIV'. The Drug Controller of India (DCI) has already granted a license for marketing the Biosensor base Diagnostic Kit in India.

The company will import the kit from MedMira Inc, Canada.

MedMira rapid HIV test is the only one in the world to get regulatory approvals by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) besides Canada, China and European Union. This diagnostic is very simple and does not require an expert to do it or read it. Any body can do it and obtain the results just within 3 minutes.

Ms Anuradha Desai, the Chairperson of the company today said the company's foray into pharma and diagnostics was on the cards for a long time and the Kit has given us the right platform to address the medical fraternity with a product which was very much required at this time.

She further stated the Kit was going to be economically priced and would serve the masses.

The VHPL Group occupies a special place in the Indian industry scene and was founded by Late Dr B V Rao, Father of the Poultry Industry. It pioneered the concept of purelines, SPF technology and poultry diagnostic services. The biotechnology oriented group has strong background in areas of vaccinology and diagnostics.

The Group has a largest share holder of the Chicken and egg market in India and one of the leaders in the world.

As part of their diversification plans the company is entering the Nutraceutical/Pharmaceutical market with their legitimate strength in Egg Proteins, crafted into innovative products and concepts in the medical nutrition therapy.
