TRS promises 12 hr power supply to farmers

Hyderabad, Sep 28 (UNI) The Telagana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) President K Chandrasekhara Rao today promised to provide 12-hour electricity supply to farmers if the party came to power in Telangana.

Addressing the press here, Mr Rao said the party was committed to the formation of a seperate Telangana. It also decided to supply uninterrupted power to agriculture sector once it came to power after separate Telangana became a reality.

Alleging the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was 'shedding crocodile tears' for farmers by announcing nine-hour power supply (if it came to power) yesterday, he said TDP President and Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has no right to speak on the plight of farmers who faced problems during the TDP's nine-year regime in the state.

Terming the recent promises like nine-hour power supply and rice supply to BPL families at the rate of Rs two a kg made by the ruling Congress and the Opposition TDP as 'opportunistic poltics,' he predicted the elections for Parliament and Andhra Pradesh Assembly would be held in February or March 2008.
