Spurned lover's suicide compels woman to hang self

Barrackpore, Sep 28 (UNI) A woman allegedly hanged herself to death from the ceiling of her house at Mathpara under Titagarh police station in North 24 Parganas within 24 hours after her spurned lover committed suicide.

Police said here today that Sanjay Ghosh (33) alias Liton allegedly committed suicide on September 26 by jumping in front of a train at Jagadadal when his marriage proposal was rejected by the 40-year-old woman.

She committed suicide yesterday, shortly after Liton's body was brought home after post mortem, police added.

Meanwhile, some villagers allegedly stormed the woman's house and broke the window panes accusing her family of being responsible for the two deaths.

Police rushed to the spot and the RAF was deployed to control the situation.
