Punjab govt withdraws notifications against Wakf Board chief

Chandigarh, Sep 28 (UNI) The Punjab government has withdrawn its notifications restraining Punjab Wakf Board chairperson Razia Sultana from taking any decision with regard to finances, personnel, properties and also from incurring any funds towards legal counsel fees without government permission.

This was submitted by Punjab advocate general Hardev Singh Mattewal when the petition filed against these notifications by board chairperson came up for further consideration before the division bench of the Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Mahesh Grover today.

The notifications were issued by the government on July 21 and 31 aganist Board chairperson Razia Sultana, who is also an MLA from Malerkotla constituency of Punjab.

The government, however, has not withdrawn the notification whereby the board and its chairperson had been restrained from making any recruitment or promotion of the employees without permission of the state government.

The case is now slated to be taken up for further consideration on November three.
