Pondy CPI wants probe into doctor's 'negligence'

Puducherry, Sep 28 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today demanded a fact-finding committee comprising experts to probe the death of a kidney patient here recently due to alleged negligence of the doctor concerned.

Addressing the press today, CPI National Council Member R Viswanathan, MLA, said the committee should go into the details of the incident and make the facts public.

He charged the Health Minister's statement not to politicise issues was in itself 'sort of politics.' Refuting Chief Minister N Rangasamy's claim the per capita medical expenditure had gone up in Puducherry, Mr Viswanathan alleged people from ten districts of Tamil Nadu were availing medical facility here.

Hence the government's claim after spending money on them could not be accepted.

The CPI leader said the bomb threat to the house of Nephrologist Murugesan should be investigated by the police and proper action taken.

He also despite Centre's direction, the administration failed to celebrate the centenary of 150th year of Sepoy Mutiny and 60th year of Independence due to lack of national thinking.
