Medico dies of "mysterious fever"

Chennai, Sep 28 (UNI) Karima Pradhan, a final year student of the Government Stanley Medical College (SMC), died here last evening at a private hospital, where she was admitted for treatment of ''mysterious fever''.

The 24-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh, who was staying in the SMC hostel with 17 others had developed fever. Three of them were admitted to a Super Speciality Hospital on September 22.

Karima, who had slipped into coma since then, died last evening, the hospital sources said.

Asserting that it was only normal viral fever and not due to Dengue, authorities said Karima, who had urinary infections, might have died due to ''Viral encephalitis''.
